ARSENIC AND OLD LACE by Joseph Kesselring
THEATRE GROUP OF ANDROS
Joseph Kesselring’s masterpiece black comedy ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’, that was a blockbuster in Broadway, will be performed for the first time in Andros this summer by the Theatre Group of Andros, and it promises something for everyone: humour, jokes, romance, suspense, an unpredictable plot and many twists.
The plot evolves in a quiet neighbourhood of Athens in 1979, where the merciful and sweet Moschovakis sisters spend their time dedicated to charity and to the care of their mentally ill nephew, Charilaos. The serenity of their house is disrupted when their insane nephew Adonis comes in the house uninvited, followed by the quack doctor Einstein, while things become even more complicated when their third nephew, Morpheus, discovers their ‘eccentric’ secret. In this comedy nothing is as it seems, exactly as it happens in real life!
