Andros Festival and the Social Cooperative Enterprise of Andros present the theatrical play “The Little Tailor of Words” by Antonis Papatheodoulou. The play will be performed by the ΜΙΚRΟS ΝΟΤΟS theatre group on Saturday August 20, 2022, at 20:30.
“…Once upon a time, a unique tailor lived in a town so little that it resembled a village. The tailor was unique not only because he was the only one in town, but also because he made clothes out of words! He carefully picked the words for each town-dweller and made clothes that kept people warm in the winter and cool in the summer. However, as time went by, the town grew bigger, its dwellers became hurried and forgetful and they forgot about the tailor. Once, a very harsh winter came and people couldn’t warm with any of their new clothes. Then they remembered the tailor, who knitted words so beautifully, and they got warm again. Because, after all, it’s words that warm up, cool down and comfort every heart…”
“The Little Tailor of Words” by Antonis Papatheodoulou, has been performed more than 300 times and was sold-out during the 2019-2020 season at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, during the 2021 summer tour and also at the Anesis Theatre!
It is a contemporary fairytale that has won the hearts of both children and adults. Caring, touching and more timely than ever before, it talks about the power of words, the need for human communication, and the love, consolation and warmth that are offered by words.
The theatrical group Mikros Notos brings to life before our eyes a book beloved by young and old alike. Using pure ingredients –live music, movement, interaction, pantomime– the group creates a handmade performance as warm and colourful as the tailor’s blanket, which covered and warmed up all of the town-dwellers in the end.
