“MR STINK” By David Walliams By the author of “The Midnight Gang”
Theatrical adaptation: Andri Theodotou – Directed by Dimitris Degaitis
After a series of successful performances, Dimitris Degaitis and Andri Theodotou return to the familiar Children’s Stage of the Art Theatre in Frynichou St.
Together with the production company of fellow Art Theatre graduate Gerasimos Skafidas, they will renew the theatrical imprint they left there in the decade 2009 – 2019 with important performances that were loved by young and old alike.
Following their creative “encounter” with the multi-award-winning author of “The Midnight Gang”, David Walliams, and the huge success of that performance for two consecutive years, the two creators introduce young audiences to another of Walliams’ most beloved books worldwide, “Mr Stink”.
But which is Mr Stink’s story?
Chloe is a twelve-year-old girl, somewhat of a loner, who struggles both at school and at home.
At school, when she doesn’t go unnoticed, she becomes the target of teasing. At home, her mother seems to be more interested in her political career and her “perfect” sister, Annabel. On the other hand, her father is very busy trying to keep the fact that he has lost his job a secret from everyone.

One day Chloe meets a homeless man, Mr Stink, and his cute dog, Duchess. Except for their smell, they always go unnoticed too…
They may smell really bad… but they are the only ones who treat Chloe with kindness and are interested in her. Kind Mr Stink and Chloe form a special, true friendship, full of understanding, tenderness and mutual acceptance.
When Chloe decides to secretly host them in the storage room of her house, this will lead to a chain of unexpected events and touching revelations that will turn everything upside down! Everyone’s secrets will come to light… and, luckily, they will bring everyone a little closer!

“Mr Stink” is a contemporary story about what is not visible at first glance and what we look at without really seeing.
A story about kindness, forgiveness, acceptance of diversity and second chances. A story about the importance of friendship and family.
It is a play written with the characteristic humour and sensitivity of the British author, who talks about stereotypes and prejudices. It touches on issues such as unemployment, economic inequalities, class discrimination, social exclusion, the use of social networks, the power of the media, school bullying and, of course, the issue of homelessness.
“Mr Stink” is ultimately a hymn to empathy and humanity, revealing the ultimate power of solidarity and kindness, and all those small acts that can bring huge changes in our life and in the life of others; values that consistently appear in Walliams’ works.
A story that will make us see the world not just with different eyes, but with a more open and pure heart!
The titular book is published by Psichogios publications.
