The protagonists are accompanied by exceptional performers Yiannis Dalianis, Christos Malakis, Giorgos Amoutzas, Simos Kakalas, Panagos Ioakim, along with five other remarkable actors. Live music is performed on stage by the play’s composer Fotis Siotas.
The play has been translated by Giorgos Blanas. Giannis Katranitsas is in charge of the set design, Sofia Paschou takes care of the movement, and Alekos Giannaros is behind the lighting. The masks, which constitute a crucial element of the play, have been designed by Martha Foka.

Oedipus is confronted with his fate, which he has been trying to escape since his birth. The prophecy that was given to his father Laius, King of Thebes, is confirmed in the worst way. Oedipus unknowingly kills his father, marries his mother Jocasta and ascends to the throne of Thebes. The tragic truth does not take long to reveal itself, confirming that humans cannot escape their fate.

“Oedipus Rex” is one of the most beloved and most performed ancient Greek plays both in Greece and globally, conveying the Greek spirit and its timeless messages across all humanity.

Simos Kakalas’ note

Never before in the history of humankind have we seen so far into the universe and so deep into humanity. Too often, when on the verge of a disaster we realise that the evil we fight against is, in fact, ourselves. Oedipus signifies humankind standing in front of a mirror. Having found the culprit, it is imperative for Oedipus to make a choice, even at the last moment, even after having already committed the gravest error. This performance is seen as a purgative ritual; a group of masked elders constitutes the Chorus which grieves and anguishes, while revealing the tragic figures of Oedipus, Jocasta, Tiresias and Creon.
